New Hire Orientation:

Global Admissions Team

Shorelight Education

When I joined Shorelight Education as a new manager, there was no formal training for Admissions Advisors. Everyone was learning on the fly, which meant inconsistent processes and gaps in understanding. I designed a comprehensive orientation program that combined interactive modules, technology training, and case-based learning to standardize onboarding.

It wasn’t simple. Our advisors were distributed across multiple countries and time zones, and everyone had different levels of prior knowledge. To overcome this, I gathered feedback from current hires, identified core skills (from Salesforce navigation to credential evaluations), and built a phased approach with immediate application, gamification, and 30/60/90-day reviews.

The result was a scalable framework that gave new hires clarity, confidence, and a clear path to proficiency while fostering a sense of community in a remote environment, while also reducing onboarding time by 20%.
